Acharya Shree Yogeesh sheds light on raw food, vegan, and vegetarian diets and nutrition. He also gives some healthy cooking tips. He suggests for people to be vegetarian as this is the first step of spirituality. However, it is not necessary that vegans and raw-food eaters are spiritual, because their mindset may be more extreme than balanced.

— Get used to eating a GREATER volume of food. Healthy food like fruits and vegetables are just less calorie dense, plain and simple. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself nibbling on a salad for hours (ok, maybe not that long, but you get the idea!)
— I’m just Dan, a man who is trying to keep things simple for you. There are a lot of complex things out there, so instead of showing you just one tree in the forest and touting it as my own, I instead want to invite you into the raw food forest with me.
— Think of getting the life energy out of the green, leafy vegetables…they are great to alkalize the tissues.
— Think of fruit for energy! Fruit is also fantastic to keep your lymphatic system moving. Grapes are the most detoxifying fruit, by the way. So if you ate something ‘bad’ and/or if you are coming down with a cold, nibble on some grapes to accelerate the detox!
— If you are in pain, or you are just a human who wants to see their potential arise, then try raw foods! Your spirit doesn’t eat, but just like a car you DO need to maintain your body. Believe me, you do not want your body (or your car!) breaking down on you in the middle of your journey.
— Always, always try and use as much organic produce as possible. If you can’t get 100% of your produce organic, aim to at least get the ones where you *eat* the skin in organic varieties. e.g., lettuces, peppers, corn, grapes, berries, apples, etc. Ones you can get by with not getting organic include bananas, avocados, carrots, cucumbers (but please peel the carrots and cucumbers).
— Don’t worry about what others say…if they can’t handle your program, that is their problem, not yours.
— If your soul is a soul that wants to be healthy, then you gotta do what you gotta do for yourself!
— Why? Because being in pain sucks. Being inflamed sucks. Being overweight sucks. Being sick sucks. Being tired sucks.
— Why not this instead? Being healthy is the new sexy. Being healthy is the new cool. Being healthy is hip. Being healthy is right on.
Right?

Go Vegetarian: change your food, change your life!
Jill Ovnik, Vegan-Gal.com:
“Change Your Food, Change Your Life!”
DVD offers easy steps to a healthier lifestyle
Jill Ovnik, president and founder of Vegan-Gal.com, produced a DVD aimed at offering the average person insight to healthier eating. Ovnik’s DVD, titled “Change Your Food, Change Your Life!”, is enlightening and entertaining. The eighty minute DVD is full of helpful information and tips that range from grocery shopping ideas and smart restaurant choices to step-by-step recipes that can be created at home.
John McDougall, a medical doctor and founder of the McDougall Program in Santa Rosa, California, states, “A low-fat, plant-based diet is the most powerful medicine you can take to regain lost health and appearance. Jill Ovnik’s friendly and practical manner of teaching will help you easily make the long overdue transition to a constructive style of eating.”
Ovnik explains, “My goals are to share the changes that I have made with food and get people excited about plant-based foods. becoming a vegetarian and then a vegan has changed my body inside and out, my mind, my heart, and my soul for the better. And the best part is that I enjoy food now more than ever!”
Ovnik is not a medical doctor or dietician. She is just a woman looking for a better way to live. Ovnik, who struggled with her weight and energy level for years, was introduced to a vegetarian and is now 30 pounds lighter with greatly increased energy levels, which, as a mother of three, is a daily incentive to remain healthy.
You do not have to be a vegan or vegetarian to benefit from the information presented in this DVD. It is full of ideas and suggestions that can benefit anyone – young and old alike. David Gronowski, National Sales Manager for Movie Facts Inc, who recently attended one of Ovnik’s seminars, said, “Jill’s information has inspired me to make changes in my eating habits. Her style is fun and direct without being preachy!”

Types of Vegetarians..?
are there any types of vegetarians where you do not eat fish. If so, what is it called?
usually fish is the last to go for a meat-eater transitioning to a vegetarian.
but a person who doesn’t eat fish and beef and stuff and only eats poultry is a a pollotarian.
a person who avoids all meat except for fish is a pescetarian. pollotarians/pescetarians are not totally vegetarians.
there are six types of vegetarians. all of these include abstinence from meat like renet, shellfish, geltain, anything from the meat of an animal.
lacto-ovo= milk/eggs
lacto= drink only milk
ovo (a rare type)= eat only eggs
vegan=no animal products at all (no dairy, eggs)
raw foodists=do not eat processed food or cooked food. can branch into fruitarians, who diet is 50% fruit, nuts, seeds, and other plant matter
Su vegetarianism= originating in Hinduism, no vegetables which have a strong odor, like onion, garlic, scallions, leeks, or shallots, and those which require uprooting of the entire plant, like turnips, carrots, radishes, etc.
How can I be a vegetarian and get propper nutrition when I am allergic to legumes and nuts?!?
I hate meat. Find it disgusting. I also feel so bad for the animals. Anyways numerous reasons to be a vegetarian….but how can I get propper nutrition? I am allergic to peanuts and other legumes as wel las treenuts. How do I get all of my nutrition??
I came across a vegetarian food pyramid but one of the largest things were legumes, and I am allergic to them. Another was nuts…I can substitue them for seeds. But what about the legumes? A very large portion of the diet. I have malnutrition right now a friend said because of me not eating meat, and no legumes in the place of it.
Well I am a veg@n and I don’t eat either one of them. I’m just fine.
Can anyone spare a delicious recipe for a vegetarian lasagna?

What is an unforgettable vegetarian Recipe which is relatively good for you?
I’m looking for a vegetarian recipe that is generally low in fat or calories. Some recipes taste fantastic but aren’t too great for the waist line, please help!
websites are appreciated aswell.
I have two vegan recipes that are so good! Both are very low in fat (the chili virtually has no fat), simple and easy to make but taste really great.
Vegan Chili
1 small onion, chopped
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
¾ cup chopped celery
¾ cup water
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
carrots
1 can recipe-ready diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 cup water
1 small can tomato paste
2 bouillon cubes
1 tablespoon chili powder
½ teaspoon cumin
2 cans pinto bean, rinsed and drained
Directions:
Combine onion, bell pepper, celery, water, and garlic in large saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, for 6 to 8 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Add tomatoes and juice, water, tomato paste, boullion, chili powder and cumin; stir well. Stir in beans. Bring to a boil; cover. Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring occasionally, for 45 minutes.
Garbanzos a’ la King
1 onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper chopped
1/2 yellow pepper chopped
1 lb fresh mushrooms chopped
3/4 cup water
1/3 cup unbleached white flour
3 cups soy or rice milk
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp pepper
2 15 oz cans garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
1 4 oz jar diced pimientos
2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed in 1/3 cup cold water
Place onion, peppers and mushrooms in large pot with the water. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Stir in the flour and continue to cook and stir for 2 minutes. Gradually add the soy or rice milk while stirring. Add the seasonings, garbanzos and pimientos. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Add the cornstarch mixture and cook and stir until the sauce thickens. Serve over bisquick biscuits or brown rice.
