Ovo-lacto vegetarians… different types of egg?

My housemate offered me duck and quail eggs the other day, and for some reason that just seems wrong, even though I eat chicken eggs.

Has anyone else found that sometimes their own rules don’t seem to apply?

What do people feel about other types of egg? Assuming the eggs aren’t fertilised, of course- otherwise it’s a completely different kettle of fish (Quorn fish, of course)

Try goose eggs they are yummy! I have no problem with eating eggs form other birds as long as they are not fertilized, and the birls aren’t being mistreated or killed when they stop producing.

What happened when Cornell University discovered that animal protein consumption causes cancers?

Would Americans then be informed that a vegetarian diet eliminates most incidents of cancers, diabetes, and heart disease?

Bear in mind that:

Dairy food associations spend millions in US media marketing dollars.

Additional food industry marketing dollars go to elementary schools to promote the food pyramid.

The food industry provides income to most committee members who set dietary standards.

Hype it’s all media hype. Remember when some study reported that tap water causes cancer? Frankly the truth is that no one knows what causes cancer specifically. Cancer is a catch all for "abnormal cell growth" These days everything we eat, breathe and wear seems to be artificially engineered or some how tainted.

Does anyone know how to make a vegetarian Lasagna?


Veggie Lasagna Florentine

Original recipe yield: 12 servings.

INGREDIENTS:
1 (16 ounce) package lasagna noodles
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 (8 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 zucchini, finely chopped
2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 pinch brown sugar
salt to taste
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed
1 (16 ounce) container nonfat cottage cheese
2 eggs
3 tablespoons dried basil, divided
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS:
Cook lasagna noodles in a large pot of lightly salted, boiling water for 10 minutes, or until al dente. Rinse with cool water, drain, and set aside.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chopped onions, mushrooms, garlic, and zucchini in the oil until soft. Stir in both cans of crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, brown sugar, and salt to taste. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, microwave frozen spinach until cooked. Cool, and then squeeze out excess water. Drain cottage cheese. Using a mixer, blend spinach, cottage cheese, eggs, and 2 tablespoons basil until smooth. In a separate bowl, combine shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spread 1 cup sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 1/3 of the noodles, 1/3 cottage cheese/spinach mixture, 1/3 of remaining sauce, and 1/3 cheese mixture. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients. Sprinkle top with remaining 1 tablespoon of dried basil.
Bake in preheated oven for 60 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

how can i become a total vegetarian?

after watchin the show monsters inside me in animal planet i’m a bit tramatized. now im scared to even walk outside bare foot. i want to become a vegetarian so in a way i can be free of not bein so scared of eatin aomethin contaminated. how can i do this? anyone here is a doctor in that field?

Ingredients
Kadhi:
1 cup yogurt
2/3 cup gram flour (besan)
6 cups water
2 tablespoons ghee or clear butter
Pinch of asafetida (hing)
1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds (mathi)
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric
4 whole red chilies
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
Pinch of citric acid if needed

Pakoras:
3/4 cup besan (Gram flour)
About 2/3 cup water

Garnish:
1 teaspoon of ghee or clear butter
1/4 teaspoon of red chili powder or paprika

GEICO Employees Improve Health Dramatically with Low-Fat Vegetarian Diet

Hillary and Bruce, who followed a low-fat vegetarian diet in a GEICO worksite study, exemplify how office workers can lose weight, lower blood pressure, and reduce absenteeism if their employer provides healthy low-fat vegetarian meals in the company cafeteria. The findings are published in a new study published in July’s American Journal of Health Promotion.

“GEICO’s workplace nutrition program helped employees lose weight and reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels,” says Susan Levin, M.S., R.D., an author of the new study. “If a company cafeteria offers low-fat vegetarian options every day, employees’ heath improves and they miss less work.” Ms. Levin is director of nutrition education for the nonprofit Washington Center for Clinical Research.
