Becoming a Vegetarian — A Sensible Option for Today’s Baby Boomer

http://VegetarianAdviser.com
For many of us, chasing that dream life of wealth and affluence has left us with bulging waistlines, clogged and damaged arteries and an overabundance of insulin-resistant fat cells. As boomers begin to face the prospect of a declining quality of life, becoming a vegetarian—or even becoming vegan—is rapidly becoming an increasingly attractive option as we fearfully watch our parents and older friends begin to succumb to heart disease, stroke and dementia in growing numbers.

Why to Become Vegan and Stop Eating Animals (Song Version)

Help Change the World – Become Vegan and Share the Video…

The Vegan Song – Lyrics Below:

Lyrics:

I’m tired of seeing animals slaughtered
I want to change the way I live
Gonna become a vegan
Give all I can give
One man can really make a difference
Let that cow live

(Chorus)
So change your chicken to salad
Your bacon to rice
Just think twice…
About the animals you’re killing
The death on your plate
Give them another fate

It’s a healthy way of life
Leave your meat eating days behind
Burgers and chicken, beef and pork
Leave them alone
Put down your fork

(Chorus)
So change your chicken to salad
Your bacon to rice
Just think twice…
About the animals you’re killing
The death on your plate
Give them another fate

Give them…
Give them another fate…

Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products. Ethical vegans reject the commodity status of animals and the use of animal products for any purpose, while dietary vegans or strict vegetarians eliminate them from their diet only. Another form, environmental veganism, rejects the use of animal products on the premise that the industrial practice is environmentally damaging and unsustainable.

The term “vegan” was coined in England in 1944 by Donald Watson, co-founder of the British Vegan Society, to mean “non-dairy vegetarian”; the society also opposed the use of eggs as food. In 1951, the society clarified the definition of “veganism” to mean “the doctrine that man should live without exploiting animals,” and in 1960 H. Jay Dinshah started the American Vegan Society, linking veganism to the Jain concept of ahimsa, the avoidance of violence against living things.

It is a growing movement. The number of vegan restaurants is increasing, and some of the top athletes in certain endurance sports—for instance, the Ironman triathlon and the Ultramarathon—practise veganism or raw veganism. The American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada regard a well-planned vegan diet as appropriate for all stages of the life-cycle. Well-planned vegan diets have been found to offer protection against many degenerative conditions, including heart disease, though if poorly planned a vegan diet may be deficient in some vitamins and minerals. Vegans should therefore make sure they have adequate sources of vitamin B12, iron, vitamin D, calcium, iodine, and omega-3 fatty acids.

I have been gaining weight very quickly since becoming vegetarian?

I noticed that my cheeks get chubby just after one day of eating badly. Why is this? It only started doing this when I became vegetarian a few months ago. Is it because I don’t digest food well and my metabolism is low?
I also realized that I lose weight almost as fast as I gain it. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can control my metabolism? I am 15 years old

Same thing happened to me when I became vegetarian. Give it another few months and everything will calm down. I also got a rash all over my stomach arms and legs, it didnt itch or anything and went away after a week or two. Another thing that could happen that might freak you out, you might stop getting a period for about 6 months to a year while your body is adjusting. Then everything gets normal. A positive i have from becoming vegetarian, i only have a period once every other month and they are always very light, doctor told me its no big deal so i totally chalk it up as a win.
